The confused seas on which we are sailing.

"We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we have become."

― Dr. David Hawkins

Peace, love, harmony. What do those words mean to you? Joy, laughter, happiness. What do they mean? And where have they gone?

All these words and the things they represent are in short supply right now; they seem to be a distant memory. Why?

Why has life become so chaotic? Why is there so much misery, friction, and strife? This is not who we are meant to be. This is not who we are.

Heaven can never be realized as long as we choose to dwell in hell.

No external entity, government, religion, politician, or law can change how anyone feels about anything. Genuine equality cannot be forced; you cannot compel anyone to be more tolerant, fair, or loving. These things must come from within; they must be organic and present in the depths of one’s soul. They must arise from the only place they can, the human heart. These things must come from a place that honors the “other” as ourselves, a place of innate respect and reverence for our commonality and shared humanity.

(Of course, at our current level of development, we need to have safeguards to protect people and ensure fairness. But the goal should be to get to a place where there is no need for such things. Naive, perhaps, but a man can dream).

I am sick of partisanship, and I am sick of tribalism. I am sick of the drama and all the labels. I am sick of being forced to choose sides. I am sick of all that keeps us distracted and confused and struggling to find peace. I am sick of the lies coming from all sides that do nothing but keep us wary of each other and embroiled in fear while the precious moments of our lives tick away. I am sick of being told what to think, how to think, and how to feel. I am not concerned with right vs. left; I am concerned with right vs. wrong. None of us are saints, and none of us are devils. We are all human, for now, anyway. We are all guilty, and we are all innocent. We are fallible, easily shattered, often confused, and prone to doing foolish things. And yeah, I am sick of that too.

Many have lost any sense of connection to their origin, and in that confusion, we all suffer. The most basic of all facts is that we are all of the same source, which is all we need to know to treat people the way they should be treated.

OK, that was quite a rant. Let’s finish on a positive note. An antidote for the madness, please?

Take a breath, relax, go within, and find that place of silence you once knew so well. Still your mind, look inward, and gaze upon the glistening light radiating from your chest. Feel that timeless serenity; you know where it is and what it is. Rest in the knowledge that no power outside of what created you can ever truly affect you. Remember, you are part of a Love so fierce, complete, and adoring that it defies human comprehension. When it all gets to be a little much, go outside, look up, and take comfort in knowing you are part of the same power and intelligence that created those stars. Breathe it in and let the loving warmth infiltrate every cell of your being. And remember, everything is temporary, even this life. And then whisper to yourself, with unwavering conviction - things really are going to be alright.

Life is perfect, even when it sucks.
